||
Shehjar records with deep grief the passing away in Jammu ion October 7, 2012, of the veteren doyen of Kashmiri traditions, Pandit Kashi Nath Handoo, in Jammu on October 7, 2012. He was 106 years old. Highly respected by the Pandit community in Kashmir and elsewhere, Pandit Kashi Nath was an eminent Jyotishacharya and a great scholar of Karma Kaand.
Last year, he was felicitated by Jagadguru Shankarachrya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Shree Jayendra Saraswati at a a glittering function held at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, a deemed university, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. On this occasion, the sage also released a re-edited version of a rare book on Karma Kaand “Logakshi Grihisutram” which had originally been published in 1932. May his soul rest in eternal peace!

Pandit Kashi Nath Handu Ji was really a learned Pandit of the Karma Kanda,based on the Laughakshi Paddhati of Kashmir. He was very generous,and would provide any information regarding the Karma Kanda and Jyotish,without any hesitation. He gifted me the Shri Yantra,in early seventies for Puja,which became an inspiration for me to understand the niceties of the Shri Yantra.
