A YOUNG MUSIC DIRECTOR "Kuldeep Sapru" "*Maharaj Tikoo


he field of art and music is full of distinguished personalities. Kuldeep Sapru a young music director is creating ripples in the musical field through his creativity, ingenuity and innovation. Kuldeep Sapru is also known by his simplicity. Simplicity is the characteristic of his greatness. Sapru is master of western music, that is why he has choosen SYNTHESIZER to other instruments. Synthesizer is an instrument which produces melodious sound of different instruments. These are typically controlled with a piano-style keyboard, in which key functions as a switch to turn electronic circuits on and off. Synthesizers can produce a wide range of sounds, which can either imitate other instruments or generate unusual new timbres. A modern digital synthesizer uses a frequency synthesizer microprocessor component to calculate mathematical functions, which generate signals of different frequencies.

Kuldeep Sapru also has training in classical music from Pt. Bhajan Sopori. Being an approved artist of All India Radio (A.I.R) and Doordarshan, Sapru has worked with many vetern musicians like Bhajan Sopori, Preetam singh, Kishen Langoo and eminent singers like Vijay Malla, Kailash Mehra, Naina Saproo, Deepali Wattal and Shyam Sajan. Kuldeep had also a chance to work with eminent Vocalist Malika Pukhraj, Bollywood Guitarist-a well known musician Mr. Irani and has learned many things from him. Sapru got his debut as a music director in tele-serial RANGAN HIND RANG and after that Kuldeep never looked back. Since then, he has Composed music for hundreds of tele-serials, tele- films and Documentaries. Had also a chance to work with renowed film Personalities like Ved Rahi, Jyoti Sarup, Vijay sethi and famous Bollywood singer Suresh Wadkar. Born in 1960 in Srinagar, Kashmir Kuldeep had interest in music from his early childhood. His father Soomnath Sapru and mother Mohini encouraged him to excel. Today Kuldeep is one of the most saught after musicians in the J&K state. His music is an excellent blend of entertainment, romance and pain. Kuldeep has received many prestegious awards for his outstanding work in music.

Shehjar's Bhumika Raina spoke with Kuldeep Sapru 1. Kuldeepji, Please tell us your musical background? Kuldeep: My musical carrer took wings during my school time. It was all inspired by my parents who are keen music enthusiasts. Beginning with youth programmes, I started participating in general programmes of Radio kashmir and Dordarshan and became a Music Director. Synthesizer being a novelty in 70's, I was attracted towards this instrument. The instrument was first intoduced by me in J&K state. 2. Please tell us how have your parents and your working with vetern musicians and eminent singers influenced you as a musician? Kuldeep: My parents being music lovers encouraged me immensely to undertake musical field as a profession.Veteran musicians like Pandit.Bhajanji Sopori always admired and boosted my spirits. Whatever I have achieved today is due to his support and guidance. 3. Which musician is close to your heart? Kuldeep: Noted singer- vocalist Mallika Pukhraj. She was born in village Mirpur 16 miles from Jammu - over looking Jammu River. She possessed a silvery rich voice and a superb expressive style of singing. 4. Please brief us about the various main and hybrid synthesizers and which type of synthesizers do you use? Kuldeep: The main Synthesizer which I usually use is ROLAND FANTOM-S and the other Synthesizer that I use in stadious is VST Synthesizer. 5. What are your musical achievements? Kuldeep: My main musical achievments are;- SWARN YUG KI AUR - Directed by VED RAHI. Dogri feature film - KALE- RE Pyare pyare sher de sware - Punjabi with T SERIES. 200 mega serials for DD.KASHIR. Have composed music for 3 dream projects - *Shanti Dhun for martyrs* who scrificed their lives for community, being produced by Panun Kashmir, SOUN POUTKAAL based on preservation of cultural heritage and *PARDAFASH* based on agony suffered by KP community in exile. 6.. Any message for the aspiring musicians? Kuldeep: Hard work, determination and deducation is key to success.
