Bridge collapses in Kashmir Nov 17 -A bridge under construction over river Jhelum collapse, killing four workers and leaving 19 others missing and feared dead, police said. Rescuers were searching the banks of the river for more bodies or survivors, said B. Srinivas, a senior police official. The incident took place outside the town of Uri, 62 miles (100 kilometers) west of Srinagar. The bridge is near LOC. Srinivas said Pakistan's army has been asked to help in the rescue operation because some of the workers may have been swept downstream into Pakistan. Srinivas said it was not immediately clear what caused the bridge to fall. Construction accidents are common in India, where little regard is paid to safety and shoddy materials are often used.
