Stones I worship *Dr. K L Chowdhury
Yes, I like them - the monoliths pebbles, marbles, rocks, even small grains of sand.. I like them all - these everywhere stones - simple, ordinary, contended stones, smooth or rugged, uniform or speckled, stones strewn in the river beds, stones piled in heaps, stones scattered in the fields, stones flanking the seashores, stones standing high on the mountains, quiet stones, impassive and massive stones, moving stones, falling stones, flying stones - I like them all. I like them - these stones - not just because there is so much there, both the microcosm and the macrocosm, in these unpretentious stones; that they bear the footprints of time; that they hold the elements in them of the very secret of life; that the silica in that grain of sand can trap the energy of the sun, and change the face of humanity through what we call the microchip, but because they invoke such an adulation. such pious thoughts, such a feeling of transcendence! Wash a stone and see how it glows with gratitude, now anoint it with a vermilion dot and it assumes a form, place a few petals on it and there is your perfect idol for you, your deity, your god! I love stones, that is why I worship them - for their universality, for the way they connect with you, and connect you with the unknown
