Shriya Bhatt Mission Hospital - Medical camp on knee Arthritis Jammu, India March 15, 2009 |

mega knee arthritis camp was organized by Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital in Jammu. More than 100 patients from all the areas of Jammu were treated free of cost. Dr.Sanjay Sarup,MS,MCH,FRCS who came all the way from Delhi to hold this camp for poor and needy patients of Jammu examined the patients and was assisted by Dr.Anita Gupta the leading physiotherapist of Jammu. On the conclusion of the camp Dr. Sarup informed that the patients were between age 40-70 and majority of patients were ladies. He said that the patients were mostly suffering with moderate to advanced osteoarthritis of knees. Also the patients had other knee conditions like medical meniscal tear, popliteal bursitis, spondylolesthisis of spine, Osteoarthritis of spine. Patients were provided free medicines for one month and were given on spot demonstration and sitting of physiotherapy .Patients were advised for knee surgery, knee replacements and other medical treatments. Dr.Sarup informed that the main cause of this chronic disease is obesity, poor dietary habits, lack of walking/jogging places like parks and gyms. He said that among the exiled population the problem is mainly because of change of life style from villages (in Kashmir) to cities (now in jammu).
