Shardha Suman Awards given to King C Bharati, Rockey Pandita APMCC releases ‘Who Am I’ video CD’; exposes Govt-land mafia nexus Jammu, January18, 2009 |

The All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) today presented Kashyap Bandhu and Shardha Suman awards to various senior social workers and prominent journalists at a function organized to release a video CD depicting the encroachments of temple land by land mafia in connivance with local administration in Kashmir Valley. King C Bharati, prominent Kashmiri Pandit Journalist and Editor of The Shadow (J&K) and Er Rockey Pandita another young freelance Kashmiri journalist were presented Shardha Suman awards on the occasion. Vinod said that his organization also took pains to revive the ‘Hawan’ culture at various closed temples in the Kashmir Valley adding the struggle to preserve 5000 year old identity would go on even if he was killed as he faces threat to his life from various quarters. Vinod said that APMCC is also organizing a Yoga Samelan of national level at Gosian Gund Ashram in Dooru Tehsil where the organization also performed a Hawan last year after 19 years. He said the Yoga Samelan would be organized in the month of May adding the Ashram was the oldest Yoga Kendra of Northern India established during the time of Mahraja Ranbir Singh Ji. He also demanded a CBI probe in temple land encroachments by the land mafia adding if Omar Abdullah is really sincere in his plans for the return of Kashmiri Pandits he must not waste time in assuring the community by ordering the probe. Vinod also demanded an Autonomous Development Council in Exile for Kashmiri Pandits which was demanded by the organization in its document “Path for Survival” released in 2007. Meanwhile the organization also presented two awards to prominent Kashmiri Pandits for their tremendous contribution in preserving the Kashmiri Pandit culture in exile as well as highlighting the plight of Pandits through writings in various media establishments. Prof Ved Kumari Ghai who was the chief guest of the function called for preservation of rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri Pandits saying Pandits have a unique culture which needs to be preserved at all costs. The guests of honour on the occasion include Jyotshi ON Shastri, Shayam Koul and MK Bangru while the prominent speakers include Sanjay Dhar, Ajay Bharti, MK Pandita, Gen Secy ZDPC, Srinagar. Those who were awarded Pt.Kashyap Bandhu Award include, Shyam Koul (Veteran Journalist), Jyotshi ON Shastri (Vijeshwar Panchang), M.K. Bangru ( Vetran Journalist), Prof GK Mujju (Social Activist and Sr Journalist), M.K. Pandita (Gen Secy ZDPC, Srinagar), Advocate BL Pandita (Social Activist), Sanjay Dhar (Social Activist), Sandhya Dhar (Social Activist), Ajay Bharti (Social Activist), Chand Ji Khar (Social Activist), Ashoke Pandit (Film Maker & Social Activist), P.N. Pandita (Social Activist). The journalists who were given Shardha Suman Award include King C Bharati (The Shadow), Anil Bhat (PTI), Saroj Razdan (Indian Express), Sunny Bhat (Early Times), Neeraj Santoshi (Indian Express), Ajay Bachloo (Star TV), Manoj Koul (ETV), Kavita Suri (Statesman), Chaman Koul (State Times), Avtar Bhat (Excelsior), Er. Rockey Pandita (Citizen Journalist), Rajinder Kumar (Take One TV). The awards contained a trophy and a certificate. The dais was managed by J.K. Kaul Bezan while the vote of thanks was presented by MK Pandita. |

This is exciting. Long back, we used to regularly visit Gosain Gund ashram but lost track in late eightees. I didn't know earlier that a hawan was held last year. When is the future function planned?
