| Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) has hailed the recent developments initiated by Govt. of Pakistan on reopening of Sharda pilgrimage. Ravinder Pandita, Head & founder of the committee has in a press release said that Pakistan Govt. has in principle agreed to reopening of the peeth after their Minister of foreign affairs and minorities minister took the decision. Formal decision shall be conveyed to Indian Government shortly. Save Sharda committee is sounding hopeful that their struggle will come to an logical end and that all shankracharya followers shall be benefitted. Save Sharda committee Kashmir has developed People to people contact across LOC and is pressing hard for reopening of the pilgrimage as well exploring Sharda -the oldest Civilization. It has also approached ISRO for satellite imagery to know the extent of the civilization and a lot has been achieved through the satellite imagery and much needs to be done on ground through GPRA methods & technology, said Pandita. The Committee has already written with reminder representations to Hon’ble PM, HM and EAM regarding the reopening of the pilgrimage particularly in the wake of Kartarpur Corridor reopening. Sharda Peeth reopening came up in Parliament also last month Rajya Sabha Question No: 1128 answered on 20th December by Gen. V K Singh MoS External affairs. The committee’s demands have been supported by many regional parties including PDP led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti, NC led by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Pradesh Congress led by G.H. Mir and recently the issue was raised by Dr. Farooq Abdullah too in Parliament. Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (Regd.) is a pressure group working on the re-opening of the pilgrimage and its preservation and supports Cross LoC religious & Heritage tourism.
