Report & images by Raman Raina The inmates of Muthi KP Refugee camp on Saturday strongly protested the government authorities for their attempt to destruct the one room tenements in phase IInd of the camp. Hundreds of inmates gathered in the camp and shouted slogans as soon as some officials, reportedly from Relief organization reached there and asked them to evict the one room tenements. The inmates of the camp allege that the authorities reached the camp with bulldoze during morning hours of the day to demolish the one room tenements where fifty migrant families are still living. The members of fifty families resisted the action strongly and prevented the authorities from causing any damage to the tenements. The inmates allege that the authorities from time to time pressurize them to vacate the camp. They accused the authorities of favoritism in allotting the newly constructed flats for migrants. |
