Kashmiri Pandits key to development in J&K: Farooq Abdullah New Delhi, September 28, 2009 |
r Farooq Abdullah believes that Kashmir Pandits are integral to the development process in Jammu & Kashmir, and that they have contributed a lot for positive development of the state. He further added that the absence of this community from the valley has created an intellectual vacuum.Farooq Abdullah said this at the Kashmir Economic Summit organised by KPCC in Delhi. The Kashmiri origin CEOs interface with the government was organised at the first of its kind conclave organized by Kashyap Progressive Commerce & Commercial Foundation (KPCC) as part of its agenda to drive the economic reconstruction in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah lauded KPPCs efforts for bringing together the community, and trying to harness the collective strength for driving the growth in the state. Mr. Moti Koul, Patron (KPCC) and Chairman (Summo Engineering Group) commended the KPCC core team for putting together the first of its kind event, that was sure to act as a driving factor for the faster growth, and re-structuring of the state, and restoring its past glory. Other people who spoke on the dais in concluding secession of Kashmir Economic Summit included Shri Ravinder Bhan, Mr. Mohit Goyal (India Angel Network), Shri Ravi Kaul and Shri Rajesh Pandit.Farooq Abdullah appreciated KPCCs efforts of organising the Kashmir Pandits and creating a cohesive force for the development in the state. He assured of his full support for such business and investment initiatives. He said that New and Renewable Energy is a potential sector for investment in J&K keeping in view the Govt of Indias thrust for setting up solar power projects. Mini hydel power projects are another area which can be looked into for investment and J&K offers many opportunities in this area. He invited KPCC to organize next summit in J&K where he assured that the state Govt Machinery can be brought across the table for a meaningful dialogue between investors and the policy makers. He emphasized that sectors which can help in employment generation should be focused upon. With this high-level recognition of the KPs efforts and contribution in the state, strife torn Kashmir economy has a new ray of hope. Some of the key points raised at the summit were:
