Strongly criticising the State Government for not implementing the Prime Minister’s Employment Package in favour of Kashmiri Pandits Displaced Community in June, 2008, the Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) today said in a press conference that they waited for full one year after they completed all the formalities that were required for their appointment. The requisite consent letters were also deposited with Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Jammu in November 2008 but till date nothing was done to better their lot.
They said that they were left with no other course but to proceed Srinagar Secretariat on 15th June, 2009 and brought home to the authorities that the PM’s package remained unimplemented in spite of the fact that the other package given to the State by the Prime Minister were very much implemented. The Srinagar Challo Aandolan and to court arrest was to awaken the administration from their deep slumber and generate a wave of sympathy among public at Srinagar and Jammu. The State Government is insensitive to this serious issue and them with every passing day; one of them cross the upper age limit for appointment.
They told media-persons that on 3rd July 2009, they again proceeded to Srinagar and this time their main objective was to approach the corridors of power. This time luck favored them and they could meet and present document under the caption ‘PM Propose C.M. Disposes’. Prominent persons present on the occasion there were: Governor, Chief Minister and Finance Minister besides the leaders of both the ruling and Opposition parties, which included Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, Hakim Yaseen, Gh. Ahmad Mir, Gh. Hassan Mir, Ashok Khajuria, Mohd. Yusuf Targami, Dilawar Mir, Chaman Lal Gupta, A.R.Veeri, Secretary / Commissioner GAD and Secretary’s Revenue and Law Department and others.
The state Governor, Chief Minister and Finance Minister listened to them and CM detailed them to the office of Commissioner Secretary Department of General Administration. It was told that 6, 000 vacancies in Government services besides 9, 000 under self-help employment ventures are on the anvil.
Apparently PM’s package is exclusively for the displaced KP youth as 12,500 employees retired on superannuating and the community youth were neglected from two long decades in the Government Services. Getting 6,000 appointees from their quota is their Constitutional right. They conducted Padyatra from Jammu to Parliament House Delhi, two months Hunger Strike at Jammu followed by various protests demonstrations held at Jammu and Srinagar.
KP Youth cautioned Government to keep their promise and expedite the action for implementation of long awaited package. If the Budget Session does not give them any healing touch, they will Gharov the Chief Minister at Srinagar soon after the budget session is over.
