| Heyrath! -Los Angels Los Angels, CA (USA) March11, 2012 |
 This year Kashmiri Hindus [Pandits] of Southern California combined the Shivratri and Navereh events together on Sunday March,11th,2012. The celebrations took place at a well known Indian Restaurant "Havali Cuisine of India" in Artesia, Los-Angeles. Large number of kashmiri Hindus attended this annual religious function.Shivratri, for our Shivist Hindu community is the epitome of all our religious functions as we used to celebrate in the valley of Kashmir. Unfortunately there are hardly any Kashmiri Pandits left in the valley now being driven out of our homes. Under these circumstances, celebration of such functions has a nostalgic theme for it is a stark reminder of the lost ancestral land and misfortunes that have befallen our docile/non-violent community. The yearning of our lost homes was palpable in the air, in our pooja lead by our own Pt. Garyali--[Retd. SSP of Kashmir Police]. Kasmiri Bahjans and Kashmiri songs by our talented artists were remarkable. Our young Kashmiri children sang Kashmiri Songs except our two years old darling who preferred "Shiela Ki Jawani" song The attendees at the function while rejoicing in the bliss of this day were resolute in their intent to return to the land of their forefathers, to the land of our Rishis and Munis that has been taken over by the intolerance and Terror.  This wonderful function was solely arranged and executed by our volunteer team lead by Dear Ajay Garyali. We thank our volunteer team for all the hard work to make this event a success. I would also like to thank our National President of KOA Mr Paviter Handoo for blessing our community and the volunteers. Amrit Nehru Los-Angeles |
