''A myth or reality'

| Looking profoundly at the present political scenario in India, a conscious and sane Indian citizen would certainly run in a frenzy and get into a state of desperation. Earlier there were Mugals, then in the recent past there were English, and now after the hard earned independence, it is the Indian politicians who are making mockery of the political system in India. According to the preamble of Indian constitution, we are a secular state, but now the secular credentials of India have taken the back seat. History is witness that this secularist state of India has faced innumerable hurdles right from the invasion of Pathans to recent terrorist attacks. But it was the invincible nature of our secular state that it has emerged indomitable’ undeterred like a brick after it is glazed in the fire. Hindus constitute the majority of this country but as the destiny has its way, their Dharma, belief, their faith have always been put to tests by subjecting it to the continuous atrocities, earlier by the foreigners but now by their own countrymen. Enslavement trait is inbred in Hindu population. To carry on secularist tag they have always been defensive rather than becoming a force to reckon with. Contrary to this any single person or a group of people who try to raise their voice against the religious discrimination are termed as Hindu extremists or fundamentalists. Though being in the majority, Hindus are appeasers to the minority community. All sorts of duties and responsibilities are laden on their heads relieving others to enjoy the fruits of pseudo secularism. Barring a few political parties, rest claim to be the Messiahs of minorities, end up creating and implementing such policies, which prove to be deterrent to the country’s all round development. To cover the lopsided effects of this so called secular state even the captil punishment to the dreaded terrorists like “BITA KARATE and AFZAL GURU” have been over viewed. It is because of this malicious nature of country politics that the terrorist in valley have tend to become the Politicians like Shabudin, Aazam Khan and Shebu Sareen can be termed as enemies of this nation in white dress. They are like the parasites, which thrive by sucking the blood of innocent Indians. Even today we find that Sanatan dharma, has no real protector, barring a few factions. Politicians claiming to be the secularist have always played with the sentiments of Hindu masses to garner the minority vote bank. Latest jolt to Hindu community came when the current Indian government. decided to go ahead with the project called Sethu-samduram in total disregard to the religious sentiments of hindus. This evidently hurt the sentiments of the hindu community. While giving nod to such a project, the existence of Lord Rama and artifacts supporting his existence were questioned. Ram sethu which is considered to have been build to transport Ram’s army to Ravana’s Lanka, is supposed to be cut for the sake of this project. To utter surprise, leaders like Karunanidhi came out with statements questioning the historical evidence to Ramas existance. This kind of misdemeanor on the part of govt. undoubtedly flared up BJP and other like-minded parties. Never the less the whole Hindu community felt insulted and ashamed. |

Question now arises why the secularism trumped blows off when the matter of Hindu sentiments come to foreplay? Why this community is taken for granted in the decision making process or is this the reward Hindus get for being true Indians? We may be in the majority but our rights and religious sentiments have no value whereas our minority brethren are treated in a differant manner. If India is a secular state then no one should be biased or discriminated in the name of religion. If Indian govt. can stand up against the Danish Cartoonist for the provoking cartoon of Allah, why can’t they look into the pros and cons of their official documents and statements? Why to invite unnecessary rage and ire from their own countrymen? Indian politicians should debar from glib talking and later propitiated acts. Right now Indian secularism is fake and a sort of fallacy. They need to strike right balance between preaching and practicing. Vote banks will come and go but secular state like India will fade forever, if the evil of appeasement is not nip from the bud. |
