Homage to Pandit Amarnath Vaishnavi Jammu, (India) July 08, 2012 |
All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) organized a special all party condolence meeting today to pay homage to the great leader and foremer President , Shri A.N.Vaishnavi here today at Surya Martand Bhawan, Ploura.
Paying rich tributes to great leader, Mr. Bhalla said Shri Vaishnavi's demise has sent shock waves across the community and the nationalist forces in the Jammu and Kashmir state as he was known as the guiding spirit of the community. He said Shri Vaishnavi played a stellar role, fighting for the cause of the Kashmiri Pandits throughout his life. People from across all sections of the society participated in the Shradhanjali Sabha at Surya Martand Bhawan, Ploura and paid their respectful obeisance to the departed noble soul. The distinguished gathering among others included Dr. Jitender Singh, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Brig. Suchet Singh, Dr. Agnishekhar, Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, B.S. Slathia, Ramesh Sabharwal, Dr. R. L.Bhat, H.N. Jattu, H. L.Bhat, R. K. Raina, Virender Raina, Phoola Kaul, A. K.Braroo, K. K. Khosa and H. L.Chatta . The speakers described Shri Vaishnavi as the tallest leader of the displaced community, who as a doyen of nationalism was always at the forefront of the community’s struggle in exile. They said that Shri Vaishnavi ji was active since 1940s itself and played a major role in the Praja Parishad movement in 1952-53, 1967 agitation of Kashmiri Hindus and Ladakh uprising. He went to jail a number of times including during the period of emergency in 1975. As a pioneer leader, he led from the front during the period of exile and worked tirelessly for the displaced community. The nationalist forces of the state have lost a great pillar of strength in his passing away. He also played his role as a social reformer and was also a role model who led a very simple and austere life. During his adolescent age he also associated himself with revolutionaries in Punjab. He used his stint in Pathankot, Handwara, Leh, Jammu and Srinagar to create national consciousness among the youth of the society. His self-less services will be remembered always by the society at large. The gathering observed two-minute silence on the occasion and paid floral tributes to the departed leader. |
