upporters from all over India converge at Porbandar in support of APMCC Porbandar (Gujarat), January 30: All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) Chairman Vinod Pandit today launched the 2nd phase of fast unto death in support of APMCC’s 6 point charter of demands for Kashmiri Hindus at Sudhama Chowk opposite Old Court Complex in Porbandar Gujarat asking the Government of J&K and the Union government to come out with a time frame within which the six demands of Kashmiri Hindus would be taken up for final resolution. Pandit had gone for 10 day long fast unto death in October 2011 with the same charter of demands after which a senior minister in Omar Abdullah Government RS Chib had requested him to end his fast and assured that the government would frame a committee to look into the demands of APMCC but the Government took no such initiative after Pandit ended his fast. Pandit launched his indefinite hunger strike after paying tributes to father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi at his birth place Kirti Mandir alongwith his associates, King C Bharati, Sandeep Bhat, Haji Amin Khokhar, Ram Dassa, Nalin Rasiklal Kanani, President Porbandar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mahant Tansukh Giri Ji Maharaj of Girnar, Prem ji Khimji President Sagar Shakti Sewa Trust, Porbandar, Amisha Shah, Vice President Women Morcha BJP, Baroda city, Kash Shah, (Youth BJP Baroda) Ashraf Khan I Sherwani, President Porbandar Lagumati Morcha Sunil Trakru, Anil Dhar, M.K. Tiku, S. Surender Singh Bali, Sudesh Safaya, Atul Barot, Popat Bhai, Raju Bhai and hundreds of supporters from all over India as the 2nd Phase of agitation was launched from Porbandar with Gandhi ji being the main inspiration behind peaceful protest for the resolution of their demands. Talking to media after the launch of the second phase of the indefinite hunger strike King C Bharati, National Spokesperson for the event while castigating the J&K Government and the then cabinet minister R.S. Chib for deceiving Kashmiri Hindus, said that R.S. Chib had assured them to take up the matter with the government in October 2011 but after requesting Vinod Pandit to call off his fast unto death on October 16, 2011, both RS Chib as well as J&K government forgot all about the issue and ignored them as if these issues were so insignificant. Bharati said that Vinod Pandit, Chairman of the organization has decided to resort to fast unto death at Porbandar in Gujarat as the government has failed to resolve these pending issues of Kashmiri Hindus even after one year of its assurance through the Cabinet Minister R.S. Chib during his visit to the venue of the fast unto death. Bharati said that APMCC has listed six major demands of Kashmiri Hindus which have been raised from time to time with the government which has ignored the sentiments of the Kashmiri Hindus resulting in disappointment among the community. The demands according to the statement include: 1. Dialogue with Pakistan for facilitating visit to Shardha Peeth Temple in POK. 2. Establishment of Shardha Peeth University in J&K. 3. Probe into the multi-crore temple/shrines land encroachment in Kashmir. 4. Passing of the pending Kashmir Temples and Shrines Bill in J&K Legislative Assembly. 5. One time compensation for over-aged Migrant Kashmiri Hindu youth. 6. Special employment package for Non-Migrant Hindus of Kashmir Valley. Bharati said that now the community feels that the only way to make this government to listen was to resort agitation from Porbhandar the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi who was the main inspiration for APMCC in seeking resolution of its demands through democratic and peaceful methods of Gandhi Ji. He said that even though the organisation had persuaded Vinod Pandit not to go for indefinite hunger strike Vinod Pandit decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike as he felt cheated by the J&K Government last time when he was assured of action in response to his breaking the fast but the promise was never kept. Speaking on the occasion Haji Amin Khokhar, Pradesh Mantri Minority Morcha BJP, Rajasthan and Coordinator Central India APMCC said that 2nd phase of the agitation was again to jolt the deaf and dumb governments at state and central levels so that the Kashmiri Hindu community gets a time frame from the government to consider their demands with sincerity which was the organisation demand during last phase of the agitation. He said that BJP has already extended its full support to APMCC adding the Central Executive Committee Member and Chief Spokesperson J&K BJP Dr Jitendra Singh has already issued a statement in the media in this regard. He added that letters to this effect have already been dispatched to the President of India, PM, all the ministers, Chief ministers, MPS and MLAs of the state and the country seeking their support. He said that APMCC’s fast unto death was to get a public assurance from both the central and state governments that their 6-point charter of demands would be taken up within a time frame. Deliberating on the six point charter of demands Sandeep Bhat, Incharge Kashmir APMCC, said that last year the foreign ministers meeting between India and Pakistan had called for facilitation of religious pilgrimage to both sides of Kashmir as a strong Confidence Building Measure (CBM) which had given them a ray of hope that both the countries would also facilitate the visit of Kashmiri Hindus to their most revered temple of Shardhaa Peeth in Muzaffarabad area which is closed since 1947. He said that the opening of borders between the two countries has not helped the Kashmiri Hindus till date and they have been ignored in this scheme even though they too have strong religious and cultural connection with the other side of Kashmir. On his second demand of probe Bhat said that the government was turning a deaf ear to their repeated pleas while land mafia along with some unscrupulous elements of various temple managements have indulged in massive encroachments and illegal selling of temple property in Kashmir Valley. He said that the temple property of Kashmiri temples was worth more than 500 crores and demanded a high level probe into the whole scandal covering all the temples of the Valley from Vitasta to Aman Sethu in Uri. He said that if the Omar led government and the UPA Government still continue to sit silent over the very sensitive issue of Hindus the activists and supporters of APMCC would also launch such hunger strikes in various parts of the country to make their voice heard by the people all over the world. |
