Civil Defense has always played an important role in responding to disasters and war emergencies in order to reduce losses and build Disaster Resilient Communities.
Response to any emergency whether natural or manmade can be successful only if a trained volunteer force of emergency workers is available. The local Disaster Management Plan must insist upon building a Disaster Resilient Society that has a capacity to rescue itself from most dangerous situations. The concept of Civil Defense, the largest community based initiative in India and many other countries, has never been separate from Emergency/Disaster Management, it is considered all over the World as part of the entire emergency management process. one day awareness programme was organized at Jamwal Group of Education Institution, Purkhoo Camp, Jammu under the supervision of Sh. Dushyant Sharma, Dy. Controller Civil Defence, Jammu. Gh. Sarwar Chouhan. SSP, Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn, Jammu was the Chief Guest of the function. He highlighted the role of Civil Defense during natural calamities and man-made disasters. Civil Defence Organisations in India too are consistent with and contribute to the preparedness against any type of attack/threat. The Dy. Controller Civil Defence, Jammu highlighted the role of Civil Defence during emergences. Sh. R.Vijay Magotra, Dy. Divisional Warden as the guest of honour, highlited the role of CD wardens during emergencies like fire, firstaid, road accidents etc. Thakur Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, Vice Chairman Jamwal Group of Education, Prof. K.G Gupta, Principal IECS, Prof. K.R Sharma, Principal North Polytechnic College and Engineer Ajay Jamwal, Head of Training & Placement also attended the event. More than 500 students and teaching staff members participated and crucial role of Civil Defence was highlighted.
