About the Author |
|
Vinod Kaul, of Kashmiri extraction, was born in New Delhi when his father moved there to take up a Government job. His father s career in the Foreign Service exposed Vinod to the world at an early age. This included postings in Cairo, New York, Beirut, and Tokyo. He completed his education at the prestigious St. Stephen s College, Delhi and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Vinod had dreamt of becoming an astronomer, but was thrown, instead, into the hurly-burly of the world of business management, which he entered somewhat reluctantly. He worked with a slew of companies in India and Canada, which included multinationals, Indian business houses, small companies, institutions, and entrepreneurial ventures. This included Tata, Bata, Birla, and Benetton. He headed the high-profile fashion body, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and ran India Fashion Week for a few years. Vinod has also tried his hand at entrepreneurial ventures and start-ups. During this period he edited professional journals in retail, fashion, and luxury. The Kaul family s scholarly leanings introduced Vinod to the joys of reading and written expression at an early age. However, his love of writing has remained a hidden passion till recently. He feels he has a lot of catching up to do for all the years in between. Besides writing, Vinod practises as an independent management consultant. He took to long-distance running at the age of 58 and has several marathons and ultras under his belt. He is married, with a Kashmiri wife, and has a son and a daughter. |
