Bhim Singh calls on President of India Seeks intervention on Jammu Central University New Delhi (India) May 10, 2011 |

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman, National Panthers Party and Member, National Integration Council called on Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the President of India and urged the President for her intervention to ensure that Jammu Central University can start functioning at the earliest. He requested the President who is the visitor of the Central Universities to exercise her constitutional authority to appoint a Vice Chancellor of Jammu Central University from the panel of the persons who were included in the list by the Selection Committee. He said that besides Dr. Amitabh Mattoo there are prominent academics from Jammu in the list and the President may appoint any person from the first list as Dr. Mattoo has already taken a foreign assignment. Prof. Bhim Singh also invited the President to Jammu as a Chief Guest in a function organized by the Council for Promotion of Dogri Culture, Art and History to present Dogra Ratan Awards-2010-11 to the recipients who have been chosen for the said awards by Dogra Award Selection Committee headed by the Former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof. M.R. Puri. |
