Beautiful Bermuda

Would like to share some images from my recent visit to the beautiful island of Bermuda. The island of Bermuda is a self-governing British territory in the Mid Atlantic Ocean north of the Caribbean, off the coast of North America east of North Carolina. It is one of the last remains of the British colonial empire in North America.

Bermuda was first settled in 1609 by shipwrecked English colonists headed for the infant English colony of Virginia. The first industry on the islands was fruit and vegetable cultivation to supply the early American colonies. After US independence and during the Napoleonic wars, Great Britain found itself without access to the US East Coast ports. Due to this situation coupled with Bermuda's convenient location between British Canada and Britain's Caribbean possessions, Bermuda became an strategic stopover point for the British Royal Navy's Atlantic fleet.

Tourism continues to be important to the island's economy, although international business has surpassed it in recent years. Bermuda has developed into a highly successful offshore financial center. A referendum on independence was soundly defeated in 1995. For many, Bermudian independence would mean little other than the obligation to staff foreign missions and embassies around the world, which can be a strong obligation for Bermuda's small population. .

Imgages below are from two caves named "Crystal and Fantasy Caves" a silent world of delicate splendor - magnificent crystal stalactites and stalagmites surrounding a clear lake of 55 feet deep - an exquisite world that Mother Nature.

Visitors visit Crystal Cave, then follow the yellow brick road to Fantasy Cave - two incredible experiences at once.. Two caves so different from each other that the difference itself is another of Mother Nature's incredible natural wonders.
