Amnesty International-visit politically motivated: PK Jammu (India) May 24, 2010 |
Report & images by Raman Raina Describing the recent visit of Amnesty International to valley as politically motivated, Panun Kashmir (PK) has said that it is a totally disappointing experience for the displaced community, who were forced to leave their home in 1990. Addressing a press conference, Ajay Chrungoo, PK president said, "The way the Amnesty International has conduced itself during their recent visit to Kashmir valley has given an ample demonstration that they were guided more by political consideration than any concern for human rights". He said that by deliberately choosing to ignore the involvement of non-state actors, Amnesty International has eventually served only the cause of those who are leading relentless campaign of religious, ethnic cleansing and are destroying the plural texture of societies across the world", said Chrungoo. Pandit body has said that Amnesty International for a long time has been having only a state specific agenda and has cared little for assessing, evaluating and commenting on the role if non-state actors in committing human rights violations and unleashing genocidal wars in the territories of their influence and control. Kuldeep Raina, general secretary of the PK alleged that Amnesty International during its visit conveniently chose to side track the issue of religious cleansing of Kashmir Hindus as it has over the years chosen to ignore the reasons behind the displacement of the Hindus living in Pakistan and Bangladesh and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). "We want to state without mincing words that the human rights violations in J&K are a whole process of excesses and oppression for which the religious wars, ideological states and war groups waging Jihad are responsible", said Ajay Chrungoo. |
