Roshni Koul is a high school senior from the state of Illinois USA. Her journey with vocal music began when she was 4 years old, sitting next to her dad at the Harmonium, as he taught her the seven swaras that make up the Indian vocal scale. Her love for singing along to Bollywood tunes lead her to start her formal training of Hindustani Classical Sangeet with Nirmita Dholakia at the age of 6. She has also learned under the guidance of Vaishali Dhande. Roshni has grown with her passion for vocal music, she joined choir at the age of 9 and is now part of her high school’s top choir, Varsity Chamber Choir. Roshni also won Chicago Indian Icon duet category in 2014. Music is an outlet for Roshni to express her emotions and thoughts, whether it be singing or playing piano. Roshni has always felt a connection to the beauty of Hindustani Classical Sangeet, its depth, richness and diverse nature. Roshni recently earned her Bachelor's Degree of Music from Sadhana School of Music affiliated with Gandharva Mahavidyalaya University in India, under chairmanship of world renowned Indian Flute Maestro Pt.
